Inland shipping position server

Passage notifications near locks or drawbridges are used to derive approximate positions for inland vessels. Messages exchanged between several inland navigation authorities allow us to determine in which pool a vessel resides at a given moment in time.

Coordinates have been listed for each passage notification point. Messages generated due to passages (containing timestamp and coordinates) are sent to the position server automatically.

Everyone who is granted sufficient access rights can look up vessel positions. has developed an application that communicates with the position server by means of standardised web services (using SOAP) in order to lookup vessel positions to be displayed on google maps.
