Network Model Print

The network consists of points, fairway components, drawbridges and locks. Nautical characteristics have been defined for all of them (net lock dimensions, fairway cross-section dimensions, net heights associated with different drawbridge positions, and so on).

Time dependent network characteristics define the network state at every moment:

  • tidal tables to specify timeslots where seagoing ships can leave the canal to enter the tidal river Scheldt,
  • time schedules for drawbridges operated by the railway company,
  • temporary speed limits on specific routes,
  • temporary reductions in fairway cross-sections due to dredging, construction works, incidents, and so on,
  • reduced services by drawbridges and locks due to temporary unavailibility of some functions (caused by maintenance).
