RIS-operators, traffic managers and infrastructure operators receive their required information mostly by means of alert notifications. These notifications are kept on queues handled by the operators so that information is sent to the right person. The alert queues can be viewed as do-lists for the operators.

Alert notifications are generated by

• the modelling software, mentioning that
  • a particular forecast significantly differs from what was communicated to the ship,
  • an expected passage notification is missing.
• operators who amongst others can attach reminder notes to a timestamp relative to an ETA (or ETD) for a given location in a traffic schedule. This facility is used to remind operators to purchase pilot services.
